W&W are ONE!

I can't believe a year has gone by since these little monkeys were born! We had a super fun little birthday gathering at the ABGB and were so happy to see all our friends and family who came out to celebrate - especially Baba, Papa and Aunt Elizabeth who came all the way from New England, cousin Devyn who drove up from San Antonio and Me-Maw, Uncle Doug and Aunt Dana who drove all the way from Port Lavaca. Thanks to everyone who made it so special!!
The boys also had their first taste of chocolate cake which they seemed to thoroughly enjoy. They must take after their mama!

If you're happy and you know it.

The boys have been getting more and more alert and responsive by the day... and they're also really starting to interact with each other. Check it out:

A few weeks of firsts.

The past few weeks have been action packed - we've had a few firsts:

Waylon and Wyatt: First word is DOG! (Or duh dduh as Waylon likes to whisper and then points towards Strummer). Here's a photo of Wyatt and Strummer.

Wyatt: A new tooth! He now has 8. Waylon has 4. Here's a good view:

Wyatt: Stood up for the first time! And the boys also realized that their cribs are next to each other for the first time. They discovered this just in time for their afternoon nap and they thought it was so. f'in. funny. I just watched them in the monitor and listening to the bouts of laughter and chatter. Here's a snapshot of the view from the monitor:

They also got their first rash. The Dr is thinking they are allergic to the penicillan they were on. Here they are at the dr:

And Uncle Blair came to visit and the boys had their first taste of BBQ! They tried brisket, turkey, cheesy squash and ribs. And they LOVED it. My boys are Texans!

Morning Cuddles.

I love mornings with the boys. As soon as I hear them stir (7am on a good day) I go in to their room and sing them a 'good morning song'. They feed, we change their diaper, get them dressed and then they play. In the past few weeks they have been super cuddly and want to be held constantly. So, as I sit in my super comfy chair trying to peacefully enjoy the first cup of coffee of the day, they grasp and whine at my legs trying to get up into my lap. It is absolutely adorable and I know that, like everything else, this behavior is fleeting so I will never say no if they want to cuddle! Here are a few shots from this morning:

Toys!

These boys are waaaay into playing. Waylon is obsessed with the Rody the rubber horse and Wyatt loves the stuffed monkey he got from Santa for Xmas. These days, all toys are delicious.

And they love to read
and make beautiful 'music' on the activity table
and here's Waylon's new favorite toy - thanks Me-Maw!

Strum and the boys

The boys love our dog, Strummer. One of our favorite games to play at the moment is 'Where is the dog?' Here's a video of Waylon not eating his dinner but instead feeding his food to the dog. You can also hear Wyatt saying dah dah dah (which is his word for dog).

New Years 2015.

It's the first day of 2015. I've been meaning to start this blog to share photos and updates of W&W for almost a year now. Oops. Oh well, I've been kinda busy.
W&W are 341 days old today. I can't believe they are almost a year. 2014 was an amazing year. It was the first year since I was 15 that I haven't left the country. I barely exercised or saw any movies or got out of my yoga pants for longer than a few hours. But it was still an amazing year because I got to see these two monkeys go from inside my belly to real tangible crying nursing crusty headed newborns to what they are today - 21 pound laughing, hilarious, sweet, sometimes fussy almost walking almost toddlers. I can't wait to see how they change and develop in 2015.
